SERVICING AN ELECTRIC LIFT TRUCK

GENERAL LIFT TRUCK MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION

Internal checks:

o Battery - Electrolyte level and charge.

o Hydraulic tank level--dipstick.

o Speed reducer and differential - Check fluid level.

o Brake fluid - Check fluid level.

 

Controls (start lift truck) Immediately check noises that are not normal:

 

o Park brake - operates correctly.

o Service brake - operates smoothly and correctly.

o Steering operation - operates smoothly and correctly.

o Drive control - forward/reverse - operates correctly.

o Lift and lowering control - operates smoothly and correctly.

o Tilt control - Operates smoothly and correctly forward and backward.

o Attachment controls - operates smoothly and correctly.

o Horn - operates correctly

o Lights - operates correctly

Gauges:

o Hour meter - operates

o Battery discharge indicator - operates

 

Lubrication check: use compressed air to clean. inspect for damage.

 

o Lubricate - all fittings and friction surfaces.

o Mast pivots. (2 fittings)

o All linkages.

o Friction surfaces of mast.

o Friction surfaces of carriage or attachment.

o Clean and lubricate lift chains.

o Clean and fill wheel bearings with grease.

o Hydraulic ol filter element("IR"-filter 1st. 100 hours)<>

o Hydraulic tank breather.

o Differential/speed reducer gear oil.

Hydraulic system check:

o Lift cylinders for leaks.

o Tilt cylinders for leaks.

o Lift pump for noise and operation.

o Power steering pump for noise and operation.

o Hydraulic control valve for leaks and operation.

o All hoses, tubing, and fittings for wear and leaks.

o For general leaks.

o Hydraulic oil level.

 

Mast, carriage, and attachment check:

 

o Mast and carriage stops.

o Mast channel wear.

o Mast rollers and wear strips.

o Carriage rollers.

o Chain anchors, adjustment.

o Chains for cracks and wear.

o Forks

 

Drive assembly:

 

o Brake drums and linings.

o Wheel nuts--Tighten to 175-225 lb.ft.
